AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of prohibited practices and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine cult.
The mission centers on "strange tests and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Content
Players who finish the adventure will receive an special katana in addition to several items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
